Sports Physical

At KAE Cubs Pediatrics, we provide comprehensive sports physicals to ensure your child is healthy and ready to participate safely in sports and physical activities. Our sports physicals begin with a thorough review of your child’s personal and family medical history, including any history of asthma, concussions, seizures, diabetes, allergies, or orthopedic concerns. We also review all current medications and ensure immunizations are up to date.

The physical exam includes checking your child’s height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse. We perform a vision screening to assess distance and acuity, and examine the ears, nose, throat, heart, lungs, and abdomen. We also evaluate your child’s joints, posture, flexibility, muscle strength, and balance to identify any potential limitations or areas needing attention.

As part of our focus on injury prevention, we assess for previous sports injuries such as sprains or fractures, and examine gait and musculoskeletal alignment. We provide practical guidance on stretching techniques and injury prevention strategies tailored to your child’s sport. In addition, we take the time to discuss mental health and emotional well-being, screening for stress or performance anxiety and offering positive encouragement to support your child both on and off the field.

After the physical, we complete any official sports clearance forms required by schools or athletic organizations. If any concerns are identified, we will help coordinate appropriate referrals to ensure your child can safely participate. Upon request, we also offer additional services including immunization updates (such as Tdap, Meningococcal, HPV, and flu vaccines), baseline concussion screening, and counseling on nutrition, hydration, and safe training habits.
