Developmental and Behavioral Screenings at KAE Cubs Pediatrics
At KAE Cubs Pediatrics, we are committed to supporting your child’s growth and development every step of the way. As part of our comprehensive well-child care, we provide developmental and behavioral screenings to help identify potential delays or concerns early—when intervention is most effective.
Developmental Screening
Developmental screening is a standardized tool we use to assess your child’s progress in key areas such as speech and language, motor skills, cognitive abilities, and social-emotional development. These screenings are typically performed at regular intervals during well-child visits—especially at 9, 18, and 30 months of age. We use evidence-based questionnaires as well as bright futures guide provided by the AAP to ensure we are monitoring milestones accurately. If any delays are noted, we will discuss next steps, which may include early intervention referrals or further developmental evaluations.
Behavioral Screening
Behavioral screening focuses on identifying emotional, social, and behavioral challenges your child may be facing. This includes common concerns such as anxiety, attention difficulties, mood disorders, and behavioral regulation. For this, we may use tools such as the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC), PHQ-9 for adolescent depression screening, and M-CHAT for early signs of autism spectrum disorder. Behavioral screenings are especially important during early childhood and adolescence when many behavioral health issues begin to emerge.
We encourage families to be proactive—if you ever have concerns about developmental milestone delays or behavioral changes, you are always welcome to schedule a visit with us between regular physicals. Early support can make a meaningful difference, and we are here to partner with you in ensuring your child’s well-being.
